From our humble beginning in 1977, is.group has grown into the most progressive office products buying group in the world. The evolutionary progression is a constant part of is.group’s value-added programs and services format.  It is this focus on addressing the needs of independent office products dealers that keeps is.group at the forefront of the industry.

For a long time, all office supply stores were locally owned and operated, selling office supplies to other companies and individuals within their local communities.  Over the last 30 years, however, the consumer landscape has changed dramatically.  Multi-location companies may use centralized ordering, and products may be shipped out of state to the ultimate end-user.  The internet, home offices, and superstores have all played a role to these changes. 

Independent office products dealers have continued to thrive and grow against this challenge, and today it is not uncommon to have new companies formed by individuals with that entrepreneurial spirit that is inherent to any successful endeavor.

is.group members embody that entrepreneurial spirit, and understand that a cooperative effort with other independents will provide them the best opportunities for future success and enable them to prosper in today’s competitive marketplace. Members are locally owned and operated, but utilize common merchandising and marketing to aggregate the strength of the is.group organization.

is.group headquarters is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. is.group and its members work together for the common goal of Power for Independents! It focuses on providing coordinated membership services and agreements with manufacturers, wholesalers, and other service providers. is.group is NOT a franchise, allowing each dealer to individualize the products offered to the consumers in that dealer’s marketplace.

is.group has reached out to other buying groups, forming affiliations that allow these organizations to participate in the is.group regional distribution and marketing programs.  These affiliations have helped strengthen both the market position of is.group members as well as the members of the affiliate buying groups.  is.group believes that working cooperatively with other organizations is a very important strategy, providing opportunities for many who could not replicate the benefits individually, simply through the coordination of effort and programs.

250 members, across the United States and Caribbean, make up is.group today, selling office supplies, furniture, machines and machine service, printing, computer/IT supplies, janitorial/break room supplies, and a wide variety of other products and services.
